Stowaway has supported several charities & fund raising over the years and continues to do so.
In our first year we supported local comedian Johnny Cowling who was running the London Marathon in aid of FLEET(air ambulance) and raised £300 by serving cream teas all day.
Last year we raised £600 for the local primary school.
Our biggest event so far was for the new children’s hospice Little Harbour. We held a tea party in the teashop with an Alice in Wonderland theme. Ian McNiece and Joe Absolom from Doc Martin very kindly came along and helped us raise an amazing £1500. Later in the year we were invited to visit the hospice to see for ourselves and see what an amazing place it is and how badly it was needed. We are continuing to fund raise for them with collection boxes in the tea shop.
We also raised £600 for the Dogs Trust and Battersea Dogs Home. Dodger, the Doc Martin dog was rescued from the Dogs Trust and we agreed with Sonia Turner, Dodgers trainer that we fund raise for her. So we put a charity box outside with a photo of Doc Martin above it and invited people to take a photo for a donation. It worked so well last year we are continuing to raise money this way as well. So keep on donating!
The lifeboat is an important part of Port Isaac and the surrounding region so we have a collection box for them and have raised several hundred pounds and still continue to do so.
